Background

Along with serving on ISPE's membership committee, I am a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and currently serve as Director and Chairman of the National Defense Committee; however, it was through the Sustainability Leadership class project at Harvard that I worked with the Regent at the time and applied “DAR Bees” to focus on the traffic island in which our DAR Lexington Chapter owns to plant specific plants that attract pollinators. Lexington Garden Club was recognized for their contribution to the Lexington DAR traffic island as the first “pollinator” town in Massachusetts.  I have also served on the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Boston Chapter’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Committee and have observed incredible changes. Our team started as the Diversity & Inclusion back in 2017 and “Equity” has since been added. I serve as Lead on a project which looks at all the hospital organizations in our region with the “best” incorporation of education on DE&I to their employees and all that encompasses this, and we have a rubric in which the top 3 are graded with the number one receiving an award of excellence in this area. During the pandemic I served as a front-line worker and helped to vaccinate the most vulnerable which included the nursing home and long-term care facilities residents throughout Massachusetts.

Since I graduated in 2021, I have been working on my master’s degree at Harvard to focus on Bioengineering and Nanotechnology. I would like to become involved in the President’s Innovation Challenge (PIC) but in the meantime I will begin work on my thesis which focuses on preventing heart failure by “exercising the heart without working the heart out” with the inspiration from my High School classmate from Baker City, Oregon. I continue to work as a pharmacist and have some interesting stories about working at a store on Harrison Avenue. Finally, I serve as 2d Lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol with a focus on STEM.

When done with work, I like spending time with family, especially my corgis Victor and Miss Cella. Outside of spending time with family, you will likely find me in the gym working out. I really enjoy Kickboxing, running, and Indoor Cycling. I would like to inspire others—or “perspire” others—to keep moving and to be "heart" healthy.
